A FAMILY HISTORY

“Semmo gente de villa” – “We are rural people”

Pesto di Pra’ has a great family history whose roots are set deeply in the soil of our agricultural company Serre sul Mare. It is almost 200 years that “Cini” (that is the name used to indicate our grandfathers) are devoted with a passion to the cultivation of basil.

In the early years of the 20th century, the company has started to specialise in greenhouse cultivation, and today it has become one of the most important basil production company in the town of Pra’.

The microclimate and the competence of our farmers make this aromatic plant unique for its organoleptic qualities.

In 2003, the activity of transformation of basil into Genoese pesto has started to develop with the company Il Pesto di Pra, thus specialising in the production of fresh pesto according to the typical Genoese recipe.

Today, our devotion is to pass on to future generations this great heritage, made of rural values, love for our territory and continuous innovation, while always respecting traditions.
