The history of “Il Pesto di Pra’” has very old roots:
basil cultivation has characterized the activity
of our family of old Genoese lineage
throughout many generations.
Our history
Since then our firm has grown to become one of the leading basil business in this area.
The activity of processing basil into pesto started in 2003 from the will of developing and continuing our family’s traditions: currently our production activity is being developed in two areas: a typically farming business, through the firm “Serre sul Mare” and a hand-made food business, through the firm “Il Pesto di Pra’”.
As early as the first half of the 19th century on the hills
of Pra’ “the Cini” (so our family was nicknamed in our
local dialect) devoted themselves to cultivation of greens,
vegetables and aromatic herbs and became more and
more specialized in basil growing when the first
greenhouses appeared in the twenties
of the past century.
