Pra' and Liguria
Pra’, where our firm is based, is a village located on the western coast of Genoa. Its origin dates back to the Roman empire (Prata Vituriorum, i.e. grassland of the Viturii tribe). Pra' was an autonomous municipality until 1926, when it was merged, together with other adjacent boroughs, into the so-called “Great Genoa”.

Now Pra' is one of western districts of the city of Genoa.
This area has built over the years its cultural and economical identity based on two characterizing elements: the sea and the land (there is a saying that says “Pra’, a farmers and fishermen land”). In fact Pra’ developed both as a marine hamlet and as an area particularly suitable for farming, thanks to the flat, grassland area called Piana Podestà and the terraced fields created by farmers in the hilly hinterland. These are used to grow early produce, and especially basil. Over the years Pra’ was able to attain internationally the prestigious primacy of being a land where the best basil is grown and the best pesto is produced.
